Trastevere and The Jewish Ghetto

TrastevereA historically and culturally rich experience, this ‘off the beaten path’ tour visits the the atmospheric quarters of Trastevere and the Jewish Ghetto. Beginning the tour at the Colosseum and the Vatican, you slip off from the main tourist track and discover a different side of Rome. We will head to the Roman ‘Greenwich Village’ Trastevere, complete with winding narrow streets and original medieval architecture; this is the true Bohemian area of Rome.

We then visit and cross the two oldest and most ancient Roman bridges and the only island on the river. From here we will enter and visit the Jewish ghetto, talking about the complex history, traditions and architecture of this area.

We will conclude our walking tour in yet another interesting area; Campo de’ Fiori, once the site of executions. The square now has a certain vibrancy as it comes alive with a lovely fruit and vegetable market. The tour will end at the infamous site of Julius Caesar’s murder.

The tour for 1 to 6 people with guide costs €300 and lasts for 3 to 4 hours. This is a walking tour.
